Good Living Street Now Onsale

Good Living Street Now Onsale

Tim Bonyhady’s new book Good Living Street: Portrait of a Patron Family, Vienna 1900, is now onsale from Pantheon Books. On Friday, the New York Times published an interview with Tim Bonyhady in Eve Kahn’s Antiques column, and today Bonyhady was on WNYC’s Leonard Lopate Show to discuss the book. Don’t miss his PowerPoint presentation and book signing tomorrow (Thursday, 11/17) at 5 pm at the Neue Galerie New York, 1048 5th Ave at 86th St.

About the author:
Tim Bonyhady is an award-winning art historian, curator, and environmental lawyer. He is the director of the Centre of Climate Law and Policy at the Australian National University. He lives in Canberra, Australia.

Praise for Good Living Street:
“Tim Bonyhady goes far beyond the story of how a great art collection came into being, with rich descriptions of the political, social, and cultural context of Vienna from the turn of the 20th century to 1938.” —Victoria Newhouse, author of Towards a New Museum and Art and The Power of Placement

“Bonyhady has delved deeply into his forebears’ concert books, travel logs, letters, and death certificates in an effort to reconstruct his family’s identity and, for his mother, to place ‘a value on her life that she did not.’ The result is a lucid, poignant generational tale of loss of material wealth and cultural identity that provides new perspective and insight into both Holocaust and immigration studies.” —Booklist

“Political, economic and art history effectively combine with memoir to create a compelling story.” —Kirkus Reviews

“As much about identity, memory, and World War II as about art collecting, this will appeal to period historians as well as genealogists tracing their own histories.” —Library Journal
